Article 26
All who have obtained an apostolic faculty of reading and retaining prohibited books cannot on that account read and retain any books whatever, or periodicals proscribed by Ordinaries of places, unless in the apostolic indult there has been made to them express power of reading and retaining books condemned by whomsoever. Moreover, let those who have obtained license of reading prohibited books remember that they are held by a grave precept to guard books of this sort in such a way that they do not come into the hands of others.
Division of the article into two parts
We shall imitate the disposition of the article itself, if in the former Part we illustrate by certain notes the faculties of reading and retaining books, but in the other we declare the manner to be observed by all who are permitted to read prohibited works.
