Chapter — Vermeersch, On Forbidden Books

Chapter VI: On Sacred Images and Indulgences

¶1.

15. Images printed in any way whatsoever of our Lord Jesus Christ, of the Blessed Virgin Mary, of angels and saints, or of other servants of God, which differ from the sense and decrees of the Church, are altogether forbidden. But new ones, whether they have prayers attached or are edited without them, are not to be published without the license of ecclesiastical power.

16. It is interdicted to all to spread abroad in any way whatsoever apocryphal indulgences, and those proscribed or revoked by the Holy Apostolic See. Those which have already been spread abroad are to be taken from the hands of the faithful.

17. All books of Indulgences, summaries, pamphlets, sheets, etc., in which their concessions are contained, are not to be published without the license of competent authority.
