Wouters, Manual of Moral Theology

Vol. I, Bk. I, Tr. II, Diss. I, Pt. II, Sect. II, Ch. II, Art. VI, Sect. II, Point III. Psychogenic Reactions

n. 56.

Psychogenic reactions are called abnormal actions, affections of soul, or sensations which arise from psychic conflicts that previously occurred in the soul of the one who is subject to these reactions. They arise both in those who are psychically constituted in a normal way and in those who are constituted in an abnormal way.

Corollary. Concerning moral responsibility it must be said that the influence of the will regarding a matter which coheres with a psychic conflict is diminished.
