Article III. The Neo-pagan Estimation of Matrimony
Division of the argument. Rationale of the order.
115. Among those whom, because of their dogmatic agnosticism, to which moral skepticism is sometimes joined, we have assigned to the neo-pagans, some, who attempt to unite ancient moral views with recent "laicism," profess a moral doctrine concerning marriage which does not seem to depart greatly from the natural law, although they commend or proclaim institutions from which the Catholic Church greatly recoils. Therefore, once their defects have been disclosed, we shall have to strip these institutions of their honorable appearance. Others, devoted to "naturalism," attempt to reform conjugal institutions completely. We shall treat the latter first, because we can complete the matter more expeditiously and because we also treated them first in the preceding chapter.
