Title — Liber Sextus
Title XII: On the Twice-Married
Chapter I
A twice-married man is stripped of every clerical privilege and subjected to the secular forum. A contrary custom is not valid, and under anathema he is forbidden to wear the tonsure. John Andrew.
Gregory X at the General Council of Lyons. Deciding by the pronouncement of the present declaration a doubt of ancient dispute, we declare that twice-married men are stripped of every clerical privilege and given over to the coercion of the secular forum, notwithstanding a contrary custom. We also prohibit them under anathema from wearing the tonsure or clerical habit.
DE BIGAMIS.
Bigamus nudatus est omni privilegio clericali, et adstrictus saeculari foro. Nec valet consuetudo in contrarium, et prohibetur ei sub anathemate, ne tonsuram deferat. Ioann. Andr.
Gregorius X. in concilio generali Lugdunensi.
Altercationis antiquae dubium praesentis declarationis oraculo decidentes, bigamos omni privilegio clericali declaramus esse nudatos, et coercitioni* fori saecularis addictos*, consuetudine contraria non obstante. Ipsis quoque sub anathemate prohibemus deferre tonsuram vel habitum clericalem.
