document — Palmieri, On Christian Marriage

From the Council of Worms, A.D. 868

¶1537.

Canon XXXII. In the coupling of the faithful we do not define the number of generation, but we establish this: that it is lawful for no Christian to accept a wife from his own consanguinity or cognation, so long as the generation is remembered, known, or retained in memory.

¶1538.

It is an exact canon according to the norm of the response of Nicholas to the Bishops of Germany.
