document — Palmieri, On Christian Marriage
From the Synodal Letter of the Same, to the Church of Milan, A.D. 390
¶987.
We indeed, not despising nuptials, receive them, at which we are present with the veil; but virgins, whom nuptials create, devoted to God, we venerate with greater honor.
