document — Palmieri, On Christian Marriage

From the Decretal Epistle of Leo IV, to the Bishops of Britain, A.D. 847

¶1476.

Decree V. As it has been defined by the Fathers, let no one dare to couple to himself anyone from his own cognation; otherwise let him be anathema. Whence the excellent decrees of blessed Gregory the younger must be retained.

¶1477.

If not before, certainly now the privilege of Gregory the Great in England was abrogated.

¶1478.

Gregory the younger is Gregory II, whose synodal Decrees existed.
