Article II. On the Integrity of Confession
741.
A twofold integrity is distinguished, one material, the other formal. The first is situated in the accusation of all mortal sins which have been committed; but the other, namely formal, consists in the accusation of all mortal sins which someone here and now, with the circumstances considered, morally can or is bound to confess. Hence as often as material integrity is had, formal integrity is also had; but not vice versa.
