Article III. On the Revalidation of a Marriage Invalid Through the Incapacity of the Parties

To revalidate a marriage invalid through an ecclesiastical impediment, before all else a dispensation from the impediment must be obtained. It is given in a twofold kind, namely: 1. a simple dispensation, or one in the customary manner; 2. a dispensation in the root of the marriage.
