On the Seventh and Tenth Precepts of the Decalogue
¶1.
You shall not steal. - You shall not covet your neighbor's house, nor servant, nor maidservant, nor ox, nor ass, nor anything that is his. Exod. 20. 15, 17.
¶2.
The seventh precept of the Decalogue prohibits every external injustice in the goods of fortune of the neighbor. - But the tenth also forbids internal sins of concupiscence, that is, of desire for the goods of the neighbor and for unjust action. Concerning the various sins of injustice about the goods of fortune we shall speak in the particular Treatise on Justice and Right.
