§ II. On the Works of Mercy

¶1.

Some works of mercy are corporal, such as to furnish food to the poor, to clothe the naked, etc.; and others spiritual, such as to correct sinners, to teach the ignorant, to console the sad, etc. We shall speak specifically about only two: 1º about alms; 2º about fraternal correction, insofar as they are referred to the precept of Charity.
