Things To Be Observed

¶1.
  1. On account of the usefulness of the matter, here and there in the work itself we have indicated with what peculiar faculties Nuncios or Apostolic Delegates and many local Ordinaries are furnished. Nevertheless the formulae of those faculties are not so stable that no accession or diminution of power is to be foreseen. We wish the Reader to have been forewarned concerning that accidental mutability.

  2. Page 102, n. 116, line 15: the things said concerning testimonial letters for entrance into a religion of men must be completed with these words: and of the Ordinaries in whose diocese or quasi-diocese, "after the completed 14th year of age, they have stayed beyond a morally continuous year, with every contrary privilege removed" (c. 544, §2).

  3. The bibliography, even that which concerns the historical appendices, is reserved to be inserted in Tome IV.

  4. At n. 656, Summary, line 22, after "lateral," add: "the mouth, with the lips compressed, or if the mouth cannot be compressed, the lower or upper lip"...

  5. At n. 708, concerning irregularity from homicide. Soldiers who, in a probably just war, kill enemies, become irregular neither from delict nor from defect of lenity. Wherefore clerics compelled to military service seem to contract no irregularity on account of legitimate acts of war. It must be said otherwise concerning those who voluntarily, and therefore illicitly, fought in the battle-line.
