Chapter — Vermeersch, Theologia Moralis

Title VIII: The Convalidation of Matrimony

823.

— A twofold mode of convalidation of matrimony is distinguished: one ordinary, simple, when, the impediment having been removed, of itself or by dispensation, or the defect having been supplied, the matrimony, the things to be observed having been observed, from that moment becomes and is considered valid; and sanation in the root, when, without new consent, from the former consent having been healed, the matrimony is convalidated. The peculiar juridic effects belong to this later mode. Hence the division of the chapter into two articles.
