Offices of Privileged Rite
Offices of the Proper, or of the Common insofar as the Proper is lacking, still retain:
The Vigils of the Nativity of Our Lord Jesus Christ, from Lauds to None, Epiphany, Pentecost; Doubles of the first and second class; Feasts of Our Lord and of the Blessed Virgin Mary;
Feasts of the Angels, of St. John the Baptist, of St. Joseph, of the Holy Apostles; Entire Octaves whose Office is recited;
Sundays within the Octaves of the Nativity, Epiphany, Ascension, Most Holy Body of Christ, and Friday after the Octave of the Ascension, when the office is to be discharged concerning them.
Nevertheless Lauds in these Offices, and the lesser Hours, Prime, Terce, Sext, None, Compline, are taken from Sunday, as in the New Psalter and in the first schema of Lauds. At Prime, in place of Psalm 117, Psalm 53 is said, and the short Lesson is the Chapter of None. The antiphons are proper or from the Common. The rest is as in the Ordinary at Prime and Compline, proper or from the Common in the remaining lesser Hours.
But Lauds on the last three days of Greater Week, which are doubles of the first class, are of the current feria, in the second schema; and on Saturday the Canticle of Ezekiel is said: Ego dixi: In dimidio dierum meorum.
The antiphons of Lauds are repeated in the Hours, because they remain, as before, unchanged. Constitution Divino afflatu, Rubrics, title 1, n. 2.
