Chapter II. On the Proclamation of Banns

A bann is a German word which signifies the same as public proclamation. Therefore banns are public announcements by which the faithful are admonished concerning Matrimony to be contracted between certain persons.

We must treat 1° of the necessity of banns; 2° of their circumstances; 3° of their dispensation; 4° of the revelation of impediments.
