Chapter — Marc, Institutiones Morales

Chapter I: On The Preparation Of Matrimony Or On Betrothals

¶1949.
  1. BETROTHALS are commonly premised to matrimony chiefly for three reasons, namely: 1. that matrimony can be entered more maturely; 2. that the spouses may dispose themselves more aptly and perfectly for the grace of the Sacrament; 3. that it can be known more safely whether some impediment is present.

It comes to be said: 1. of the nature of betrothals; 2. of their effects and obligation; 3. of their dissolution.
