Treatise VII: On the Sacrament of Order
¶1884.
- After we have treated of the five Sacraments which are ordered to the spiritual life of the private man, it remains that we discuss the two others which were instituted for the advantage of religious society. - And first we shall discuss ORDER, on which, as the Roman Catechism says, all the other Sacraments so depend "that without it they partly can in no way be confected and administered, and partly would seem to lack solemn ceremony and indeed religious rite and worship."
We shall treat: 1. of the nature of Order; 2. of the Minister; 3. of the Subject of Order; 4. of Irregularities, or of the impediments of receiving Order or of Order received.
