Treatise XII. On the Virtue of Fortitude and the Opposed Vices
¶71.
St. Thomas treats in the Summa theologica, after the tract on justice and the virtues annexed to it, of the third cardinal virtue, namely fortitude.1095 This tract is indeed most useful for the spiritual life. Following the footsteps of the Angelic Doctor and at the same time striving for brevity, we divide this tract into four chapters, namely: 1. on the notion of fortitude; 2. on its acts; 3. on its parts; 4. on the opposed vices.
