Book — Noldin, Summa of Moral Theology

Book First. On The Ultimate End Of Man

¶1.

Since moral theology teaches man the way by which he can come to his end, it first treats of the ultimate end of man, both so that he may know the end toward which he must tend by his acts, and so that the foundation and supreme principle of moral theology may be clear: for all things depend upon and are governed by the end. Nevertheless, the ultimate end is to be treated in such a way that those things which are set forth at length in moral philosophy are briefly recalled here, and then those things are added which are proper to moral theology.
