Question — Noldin, Summa of Moral Theology

Question Third. On the Conditions of Sin.

¶1.

It is asked what conditions are required so that formal sin, or sin considered subjectively, may be mortal, and what are required so that it may be venial: for since formal sin is a voluntary transgression of law, not every sin which objectively, with the matter considered, is grave or light can be imputed to the agent as a grave or light sin.
