Section 4. Homicide, Procurement of Abortion.
494. Because of Homicide or Procurement of Abortion these are irregular: those who have perpetrated voluntary homicide or procured the abortion of a human fetus, the effect having followed, and all cooperators.1
a. Every and only voluntary homicide gravely sinful, but not also homicide from an indirect cause, induces irregularity; for in an odious matter homicide must be restricted to directly voluntary homicide.
b. Cooperators are understood as all who by command, counsel, or consent effectively influence the homicide. But those are not irregular who only do not impede homicide, although they could impede it, indeed are bound to impede it either from charity or even from justice. In either case, cooperators in homicide and in procurement of abortion also become irregular.
Concerning abortion and its procurement, see the declaration of the terms in the volume on the Precepts.
