Article II. On Admission Itself into Religion
¶1.
A twofold admission is distinguished, namely to the novitiate and to religious profession. Now the Code declares these things about each admission: Any Catholic can be admitted into religion who is detained by no legitimate impediment, is moved by a right intention, and is suitable for bearing the burdens of the religion (can. 538). Then it speaks specifically: first about the postulancy which in some religions must be placed before the novitiate; then about the novitiate; then about religious profession.
