Section II. On the Sources of Morality
64.
The sources of morality are called those things from which a human act takes, or, as from sources, draws, its morality, that is, goodness or malice. The sources are: the object and circumstance of the act, and finally the end on account of which it is placed. They are sources of morality because and insofar as they themselves are subject to the rules of morals, so that morality can be contracted from them. We shall speak of each.
