Part I. On the Person Receiving
I. Only man as a wayfarer is capable of receiving the sacraments. Therefore angels and the dead are excluded. Nevertheless not every wayfaring man is capable of receiving all the sacraments; namely:
Every man not yet baptized is capable of Baptism (can. 745, § 1).
Every baptized person is capable of Confirmation and the Eucharist (canons 786, 853).
Every baptized male is capable of Order (can. 968).
Every baptized person who has fallen after Baptism is capable of Penance (can. 902).
Every baptized person able to enter into a contract is capable of Matrimony (cf. can. 1035).
Every baptized person who, after having attained the use of reason, is in danger of death because of illness or old age is capable of Extreme Unction (can. 940, § 1).
