Part IV. On the Notation and Testimony of Ordination Performed

657.

I. When the ordination has been completed, the names of the individual ordained persons and of the ordaining minister, the place and day of ordination, are to be noted in a special book, to be diligently kept in the Curia of the place of ordination, and all the documents of the individual ordinations are to be accurately preserved (canon 1010, § 1).

II. To each of the ordained there is to be given an authentic testimony of the ordination received; those who have been promoted by an outside Bishop with dimissorial letters are to show it to their proper Ordinary for the notation of the ordination in a special book to be preserved in the archive (canon 1010, § 2).

III. Furthermore, the local Ordinary, if it is a question of those ordained from the secular clergy, or the major Superior, if of religious ordained with his dimissorial letters, is to transmit notice of the celebrated ordination of each subdeacon to the pastor of baptism, who is to note it in his book of the baptized (canon 1011).
