Section I. On Praise
¶1.
(St. Thomas, II-II, q. 91; St. Alphonsus, Theologia Moralis, lib. III, nn. 121-132; Homo Apostolicus, tr. 5, nn. 1-11.)

Praise is an honorable utterance of the excellence of God. But concerning praise, what we said about adoration holds, namely that in order for it to be a true act of religion, there must be joined to it an internal act by which we honor the excellence of God with mind and heart, and which is customarily called praise of the mind or praise of the heart.
We shall speak first, very briefly, about the usefulness and modes of praising, then about the sin chiefly opposed to it, that is, blasphemy.
