Section II. On the Requisites for Licit Reception
607.
In order that someone licitly receive Orders, he must be endowed with certain requisites, and be immune from irregularity or some other impediment (cf. canon 968, § 1). But those who are held by irregularity or some other impediment, even if it arose after ordination and even without their own fault, are prohibited from exercising the Orders received (canon 968, § 2). We shall speak first about the positive requisites, then about irregularities and the other impediments from which the ordinand must be immune.
