Section III: On Fraternal Correction
BETWEEN the two species of Mercy, poured out on either side into seven-flowing rivulets, as you have above, quaest. 2. sect. 2. on alms, Fraternal Correction is wont to be enumerated, by which many goods are bestowed on those under one's eye, when their advantage, not their will, is consulted, as D. August. has it in the Seraphic Doctor's lib. 4. Pharetra, cap. 38. And if perhaps the foreseeing that this advantage will not follow, D. Gregory also urges that one's neighbor be corrected for the public good, here at S. Bonav. Since, as he says, it is better that one be condemned for the salvation of many, than that many be endangered through the license of one. Here, however, we must treat of correction, as it is a certain species of spiritual alms, shown to the offender.
