Question XXVI: Whether angels are to be loved out of charity
I ASSERT that the Angels are to be loved out of Charity. It is PROVED by S. Thomas, ad 2., and D. Thom. in corpore. The friendship of charity is founded in the communication of eternal beatitude, in the participation of which we communicate with the Angels: for it is said, Matth. 22: that in the resurrection men shall be as the Angels, in heaven. Wherefore, although they differ in nature, by which natural friendship is constituted; they are nevertheless, according to supernatural things, toward the same end, and toward the same Good. And therefore they live together with us in eternal life, which is enough for supernatural friendship; just as natural fellowship is proper to friends according to nature, as Aristotle teaches, 8. Eth. cap. 5. The others use this same reasoning, as you will see in Tannerus, disp. 2. quaest. 3. dub. 1.
ASSERO, Angelos ex Charitate esse diligendos. PROBATUR a S. Doct. ad 2. et D. Thom. in corpore. Amicitia charitatis fundatur in communicatione beatitudinis aeternae, in cuius participatione communicamus cum Angelis: Dicitur enim Matth. 22. In resurrectione futuros Homines, sicut Angelos, in caelo. Eth. cap. 5. Hac ratione utuntur caeteri, ut videbis apud Tannerum disp. 2. quaest. 3. dub. 1.
