Question — Bontempi, Palladium Theologicum V · from Schola Thomistica
Question XII: Whether the articles of faith are to be expounded by some authority which is an infallible teacher, and what it is
This question suggests the weightiest disputations against the sectaries, who, by their own strength and an empty, though inflated, little spirit, urge that it is lawful for all to interpret the Scriptures, and the articles of faith: But I have treated of these p. p. Tract. first, disp. 2. Prooemial, On the Theological Places, where I reduced the whole power of the key of knowledge to the seat of the Pope. The Seraphic Doctor demonstrates this most beautifully in the Apolog. of the poor, resp. 1. chapter 1., where he brings forward the precept of Deut. 17. of fleeing in doubts to the Pontiff.
2. Prooemiali, De Locis Theologicis, ubi summam clavis scientiae potestatem ad sedem Papae deduxi. Id praeclare demonstrat S. Doctor in Apolog. pauper. resp. 1. cap. 1. ubi adducit praeceptum Deut. 17. confugiendi in dubiis ad Pontificem.
