Doubt III: Whether a religious sins by accepting alms for others

English · Latin · Both

1.

I SAY, that one accepting alms for the poor, whether blood relatives, or strangers, without license, does not sin, Sanch. on Matrimony sess. 6. disp. 4. n. 7. and lib. 7. moral. c. 50. num. 4. Layman l. 4. tr. 5. c. 7. num 16. Caramuel num. 887. l. 8. Diana p. p. on Poverty resol. 8. and 29. Fagund. praec. 1. l. 8. c. 6. n. 18. Suarez tract. 3. on Religion l. 8. c. 11. num. 45. Baffaeus num. 14., provided he does not assume to himself the donation, or any right. He will indeed conduct himself as an intercessor, in no way injuring his Poverty.

2.

Such a man can receive, in deposit, broadly taken, without an obligation of safekeeping, certain things; and if he dies, he is not to be straightway deprived of burial. See Portel. V sepult. num. 11. Hieron. Rodriguez in the comp. resolut. 138. num. 20.

3.

Baffaeus EXCEPTS the Minorite, unless the circumstances occurred to the contrary.

4.

But if he has received in himself a right of money, even to be transferred to others, he sins. Thus Turrianus 2. 2. disp. nr. 84. dub. 3. Layman lib. 4. tract. 5. cap. 7. num. 16. Faust. in the treasury l. 8. question 117.
